It is part of the widespread Wetherspoon chain, known for its down-to-earth cuisine and lively atmosphere. Located in close proximity to Old Trafford Stadium, the home of Manchester United, it attracts a large number of visitors, especially on match days, who seek the unique ambiance before and after the games. The interior of "Bishop Blaize" is typical of a Wetherspoon pub: spacious, open, and featuring a mix of traditional charm and functional furnishings. There are elevated seating areas that add some variety to the layout, along with numerous screens broadcasting sports events—an absolute must for a crowd that often comes for the proximity to the stadium. On match days, the pub transforms into a sea of red and white Manchester United colors, with fans singing loudly and cheering on the team. This atmosphere is often described as electrifying and is a highlight of many visitors' experiences.

The menu offers a wide selection of classic British dishes that are both filling and affordable. One of the most popular items is the Fish & Chips, which delights many guests with its crispy batter and juicy fish. The Mixed Grill is also frequently praised, a hearty combination of various meats that is perfect for hungry sports fans after a long day. For those seeking something lighter, options like the Chicken Curry, with its spicy flavors, provide a welcome change. For dessert, the Sticky Toffee Pudding, a sweet classic, is often mentioned as a fitting conclusion to a visit, thanks to its warm, caramel sauce.

"The Bishop Blaize" excels not only in food but also in its drink selection. In addition to a variety of beers, including local and international options, there are also non-alcoholic alternatives and even affordable coffee, pleasing patrons who linger throughout the day. Counter service is typical for Wetherspoon and ensures quick service, even when it gets crowded—especially on match days. Many visitors take advantage of the option to place their orders via an app, which further speeds up the process.

Popular dishes in British pubs

Opinions about "Bishop Blaize," however, are not uniform. While most appreciate the vibrant atmosphere and solid cuisine, there is some criticism as well. Some find the pub too crowded and chaotic on match days, and the noise can be overwhelming. The decor is occasionally described as somewhat worn, which may either enhance its rustic charm or detract from it, depending on one's perspective. Nevertheless, the staff is often praised for their friendliness and patience, particularly given the large crowds they manage on busy days.

A special aspect of "Bishop Blaize" is its role as a social hub. It is not just a place for food and drink but also a venue where community is built—whether through the collective singing of fans or conversations with regulars. For Manchester United supporters, it is almost a pilgrimage site that captures the spirit of the club. Even for non-fans, it offers an authentic glimpse into British pub culture, combined with the passion for football that defines this city.

Always enjoy coming here on match day. Love the song songs. I brought my son to his first match a couple of weeks back but was told no kids allowed today. I’ve always seen kids in there with parents , plus he’s a big kid at 14 year old. Still love the place but just miffed as to why we couldn’t get in that day.

Pub cercano a Old Trafford con buen ambiente y precios muy buenos para Manchester. Estuvimos un día que no había partido, pero los días en los que juegue el equipo tiene que ser impresionante.

Hospůdka spjata s fans man utd. Navštívené o víkendu v době obědů a kupodivu jsme si našli jeden volný stůl. Obsluha i přes plnou hospodu rychlá a kmitala na jidlo jsme čekali opravdu jen pár minut a vše bylo výborné. Pokud máte čas a možnost minimálně na pivo se zastavte

We stopped in the Bishops Blaze for a bite to eat for lunch. The gentleman who served us (polite man, early 30’s) was very polite and welcoming which made the (semi expected due to the current draught) lack of Guinness forgivable. He suggested a pale and it was very lovely! The food took longer than expected but we weren’t in a rush. I ordered a meat feast pizza which was slightly under cooked but nice and my partner had the halloumi flat bread which was also nice but it wasn’t proper flatbread, more of a pitta but we got what we paid for as the price was good! Over all we enjoyed our visit, finishing it in the lovely beer garden (would make a nice wedding venue with the back drop of the castle!) thanks!
